This gorgeous studio apartment is ideally situated on a pedestrian street just behind the 'Hotel de Ville', the French name for City Hall. From here you can easily explore many of the major Paris attractions on foot; The Louvre, the Marais, the two islands: Ile Saint Louis and Ile de la Cite, as well as the left bank and the Latin quarter. It is also very well connected to visit the rest of the city as it is close to many of the metro lines and even the RER express trains to the Exhibition centres of Villepinte and the Airport Charles de Gaulle.
You enter the building complex by walking through a beautiful 18th Century wooden door with a security code, a stone-floored entrance hallway and then on through a beautiful flowered courtyard with a wood-beamed staircase to your left. The apartment building is an annexe to this built in the courtyard in the 1960's. The apartment itself is on the fourth floor, which is accessed by an elevator, also with a security code.
This luxury studio suite is 40sq. metres (431 sq. feet), has bleached oakwood floors and large floor-to-ceiling windows exposed to the south and east, which means that it is bathed in sunlight from about midday to the end of the day. All the electrical fittings, switches and plugs are from Meljac. There is central heating and hot water provided by the building. It has been very tastefully decorated with vintage and design furniture and fittings, original modern photographic artwork. You'll find some great art books and pure cashmere throws and pillows here and there to snuggle up in when you read them, with some good music playing from your ipod on the ipod station, or while watching the large flatscreen television with cable connection.
The entrance door of the apartment opens on to an entrance hallway with the separate toilets to your left which is also equipped with a washing machine (no dryer, but there is a clothes line provided).
At the end of the hallway is a dining table in front of the south facing window and to your left a well-designed kitchen space, with an island unit with black granite surfaces, fully equipped with a two-hub vitroceramic cooker, microwave/traditional oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, toaster and nespresso machine. There is plenty of cupboard space, well equipped with crockery, silverware and everything you'd need to make a simple meal.
Beyond the Kitchen/dining area you'll find a living area with a beautiful sofa and two comfortable vintage chairs in wood and tressed cord around a designer coffee table and opposite the large flatscreened television.
At the end of the suite is a queen-sized bed with a quality mattress from Treca (Palace). which looks eastwards over a large open courtyard planted with shrubs and trees and no immediate vis-a-vis. There are grey, linen curtains on all the windows.
To the left of the living area there is an open closet space just before the bathroom, which is accessed by a sliding wood door. The bathroom is entirely tiled with large black tiles and is equipped with a large shower with a rain-head as well as a hand-held option. There are cubby holes above the black granite sink and drawers below it, to organise toiletries and personal effects and you'll find a hairdyer there too. The towel warmer is central and electric, so you can use it to heat towels even in the summer months when the central heating from the building is switched off.
There is, of course, free wifi connection and wireless telephone with free calls to landlines in many countries around the world as well as cell-phones to North America.
