Not a lot of people know this, but floating baths were already fashionable in the 18th century. There were actually several of them on the Seine. The Joséphine Baker swimming pool is moored on the Left Bank and reaffirms the genre in a high-tech and ecologically-friendly version, with modern comforts. It has a main pool and a 50 m² paddling pool for children. There are also solariums, saunas, a hammam, a Jacuzzi, and a fitness and weights room

We met with Ute Biefang the other day. Ute is originally German but lived for years In Melbourne, where she produced the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival.
With her natural charm and in English, French and German, She’ll work with you to elaborate a unique tailor-made tour where she’ll take you to her personal pick of favorite gourmet food lovers delights.
You’ll really visit the Parisian food scene from an insiders viewpoint:
from fresh food markets to Bread-makers
from Pastry and chocolate to savvy dining,
She is definitely the person to contact for an immediate, straight-to-the-point tour of culinary Paris. Giving you an experience that would normally take years of living in the city (as she has!)
Have Fun!

Leave Comment » We are very excited about the mois de la photo this year. Every other November for the last 30 years, Paris has organised this event, which has made it one of the worldwide centers for photographic art and collections. ‘Paris Collects’ (or Paris collectionne) is actually the theme of the event this year.
There are many exhibitions all over the city. Personal favorites are the exhibition of Andre Kertesz at the Jeu de Paume, which I haven’t had a chance to see yet, but I know that his work is wonderful. Raymond Depardon is also a fabulous photographer and there is an exhibition dedicated to him at the Bibliotheque Francois Mitterand, which is worth a visit, being one of the architectural legacies of this French president, along with the pyramid of the Louvre and the Arch of La Defense. Of course there is also PARIS PHOTO, which is a fantastic photographic trade fair, also open to the public, which takes place at the Carroussel du Louvre between the 18th-21st November

Yesterday was Bastille day in France, celebrating the beginning of the French revolution, when crowds stormed the Bastille, a prison fortress, which they took to be a symbol of oppression. Actually there were hardly any prisoners there, seven if I remember rightly.
This day is celebrated with a wonderful fireworks display. In Paris, this is always held on the 14th July at around 22:45 and is always centered on the Eiffel Tower, who celebrated its 120th anniversary this year. This years fireworks were breathtaking
In Paris, the day starts in the morning with a military parade down the Champs Elysees, with a fantastic air display which flies over the capital…
And in the evening of the 13th and 14th July there are what’s called the ‘Bals des Pompiers’ where all the firestations in the capital open their doors and have a party. It is a generally known fact that the Paris firemen are the most handsome in the world…. Check it out next year!
